Rio Inside, No. 2

Today I mail you the second newsflash, to a few more people who please read the latest developments from the mails below…

The B4E @ Rioplus20 Conference yesterday was full of highs and lows… For some reasons I could not present my words in person, just the pictures (me and the bike), plus some words of the moderators. On the other this was still very effective, the message was present, and I made some good new connections: On the one hand we may get partnership and endorsement with the suitable WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development) department, and also team up with the WRI (World Research Institute) Department of Transportation, where we share many common objectives. As always, what happens depends on the reliabiliay of the promises and the people in the follow ups… but in this case I am quite optimistic. Of course, there were lots of more talks…

In general, however, the level of smalltalking and also of the presentations appear much more uninspiring and shallow than in many other conferences, including the B4E Summit in Berlin late in May. This made me thinking how the fact that all these great and/or important people are at one place in time more or less dedicated to our future can be made efficient, because certainly it is not. We should start by asking how action happens, and what must be done to make action towards a certain desired change happen. Certainly we as Innovationsmanufaktur know quite a lot about this already, but there is still more to discover, to try. And if we know it it does in no way means that it is happening, because usually we are not really in charge… Definitely, what happens here is not the best way to make things happen, anyway, this is for sure even now already. I keep you posted about these thoughts and the practical consequences, and am happy to share them with you. Obviously, at least I got lots of stimulations on the rather philosophical side… more to come.

After all of this rather theoretical stuff please also enjoy the pictures and sounds that have been put on our website (the ride), on facebook, and on Youtube already. Thanks so much, Florian and Johannes, for all of this at such short notice. I am eager to find a more suitable computer to enjoy as well…
